Are You Having Sleep Problems?

by | Mind & Body

Vanessa and I have been helping patients in Austin get relief from poor sleep patterns for almost 20 years at TigerLily Wellness and Acupuncture. Sleep is one of the most important aspects of your life and not getting enough sleep is real torture. Sleep is so restorative and even helps you’re gut rebuild itself. The ideal amount of sleep to get nightly is 7-9 hours. Getting less than that reduces your cognitive capacity by up to 30%.

The main culprit for a bad night of sleep is stress. Other factors include hormonal changes and poor sleep habits like video games, watching TV and working on computers. The TV and other screens impact the brain and make it more difficult to rest deeply.

One of the functions of the pineal gland is making a hormone called melatonin which naturally helps with sleep. This hormone, melatonin, is sold over-the-counter in the United States and nowhere else in the world. Taking this hormone can have a negative impact on the pineal gland making for dependence on the supplement, which is why we suggest against using it.  We help our Austin patients sleep better with a in depth nutrition evaluation, muscle testing, acupuncture and herbal medicine. If you want a really great nights rest call us today and will help get you right at night.
