Give Your Heart a Fighting Chance

by | Digestive Health, Health & Wellness, Mind & Body

This may come as a surprise to you, but recent studies have concluded that cholesterol has little to nothing to do with heart disease, heart attacks, and strokes. The AIM-HIGH study, called one of the most important events in the world of cardiology, was actually stopped early due to the surprisingly dismal results found! The AIM-HIGH (Atherothrombosis Intervention in Metabolic Syndrome with Low HDL/High Triglycerides: Impact on Global Health Outcomes) trial tested high-dose, timed-release niacin in the form of a drug called Niaspan in combination with a statin (cholesterol lowering) drug. The drug was actually successful in lowering triglycerides and raising HDL (good) cholesterol, though the study showed that no fewer heart attacks and slightly MORE strokes occurred. How can this be? If cholesterol and triglycerides are directly related to heart disease and strokes, why didn’t the study produce the opposite results? This is because “the single greatest cause of heart disease, no matter what type, is the American diet and the nutritional deficiencies that it causes.” (Dr. Bruce West, founder of Health Alert/Immune Systems, Inc.) What we’re seeing is this: Cholesterol drugs are coming off profitable patents, which means that drug companies have been riding the money train, and you can be sure they don’t plan on getting off any time soon. The next step in cholesterol lowering drugs: Combining statins with a few new molecules (like niacin or something else), to get new patents, despite the results of the AIM-HIGH trial! The business of medicine continues as usual.

The truth is that feeding the heart cardiotonic nutrients found in whole food based nutritional complexes is the most effective way of preventing and improving heart disease of any kind. This does not mean store-bought vitamins, which are made up of synthetic nutritional complexes, and the body isn’t able to fully utilize them. Whole food nutritional complexes made from concentrated foods and extracts do work because the body utilizes them. Giving your heart the nutrition it craves, even if you’re on debilitating cardiac medications, will make you feel better and stronger and will have you heading back to your cardiologist to start weaning off medications. In fact, most people will see a startling difference in only four months! The point is to give your heart a fighting a chance, because let’s face it, our hearts only have a certain amount of beats in them and almost all American hearts fail before their full number of beats have been used up. Providing your heart with the nutrients it needs is a safe and healthy way of getting the full number of beats and a few more good years in.

“The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.” – Thomas A. Edison
