Goji Berry: another ancient medicine with modern results!!
Gou Qi Zi also known s goji berry or Chinese wolfberry, has been a documented medicinal since the first century A.D. The original Materia Medica for Chinese Herbology was written in the first century and later revised in Tibet in the mid 4th to mid 5th centuries. In these ancient texts lies the information that we base our Chinese herbal protocols on today. Gou Qi Zi is an herb that enters the Liver, Lung, and Kidney meridians. It nourishes and tonifies the liver the kidneys: for such symptoms as sore back and legs, low grade abdominal pain, impotence, nocturnal emission, and consumption (extreme exhaustion). It also benefits the eyes, when there is a liver and kidney deficient pattern where the essence and blood are unable to nourish the eyes. Lastly, it enriches the yin and moistens the Lungs. For centuries we, the traditional Chinese medical community, have known of the benefits of Goji berry. As the scientific research confirms what we have known for 2000 years, the greater western public can hopefully feel more assured that even without the microscope, traditional Chinese Medicine has tremendous insight into health and the human body.
